Fred Aikens is a native of Wilmington, NC and a 1968 graduate of Williston Senior High School. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Lucy Aikens, and they have two married, adult daughters and one grandson. He currently serves on the Wake County Citizens' Facilities Advisory Committee, the Hannah Keith Scholarship Fund, and the NC Legislative Black Caucus Foundation Board.
